A benefit for the Santa Monica High School Bands features Mr. Rankin, overall winner of
the American Theatre Organ Society’s Young Theatre Organist Competition in 2007,
who is being generously flown in especially for this performance by the Los Angeles
Theater Organ Society.
COME SEE Two Silent Film Classics and COME HEAR nationally acclaimed organist
DONNIE RANKIN on the historic Barnum Hall WURLITZER pipe organ headline an
evening of musical and film entertainment in the restored 1937 WPA art deco Barnum
Hall on the campus of Santa Monica High School.
Barnum Hall will be premiering its brand new 15,000 lumen projection system and is
one of only a few high school venues in the nation with a complete theater pipe organ.
The evening will also include the public premier of new features within the pipe organ
itself. Significantly enlarged from the original 1930s organ during the recently
completed renovation, the mighty Barnum Hall Wurlitzer now includes a full percussion
section, and several ranks rescued from other historic west coast pipe organs.
This is sure to be a memorable evening as the Santa Monica High School Band
Program brings together the genius of these comedy legends and the rousing sound of
one of the few true theatre pipe organs anywhere. Make your plans to join us!
